Izzy Gatward

BA(Hons) MA PGCE AISTD (DDE)

 

Izzy has danced and performed from a very young age, initially at the Philippa Hogan School of Dance in Surrey, before moving to EntertainArts in Berkshire, where she completed her vocational dance exams with ISTD. She has successfully competed in - and choreographed for - local, regional & national dance competitions. At the age of 18, she gained her Diploma in Dance Instruction through ISTD, before moving to study at the University of Warwick, where she achieved a first-class BA, MA and PGCE.

During her time at Warwick, Izzy worked as the Head of Teaching for Warwick Tap, with her tap and contemporary choreography earning Team Warwick multiple awards at national inter-university competitions. Since 2019, she has also taught for local dance schools around Coventry & Warwickshire in a wide range of disciplines.

Izzy gained full QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) in 2021, and spent 4 years working as a fully qualified secondary school teacher in addition to her dance teaching career. In 2024, she achieved her full DDE (Diploma in Dance Education), becoming a registered ISTD practitioner and official member of the association. She now works in Inclusive Education at the University of Warwick alongside running the dance school.

​Izzy founded Shottery School of Dance in 2024, fulfilling a lifelong dream of running her own dance school. She is passionate about sharing her love of performing with the next generation of dancers & dedicated to ensuring the school is a safe and encouraging environment where all children are able to thrive.​

 

Izzy has been working with children for over 10 years and is fully trained in Child Protection and Safeguarding. She is First Aid trained and holds an enhanced DBS check.
